Ingredients:
1 16 oz package of split peas (rinse well)
1- 1/12 pounds of ham shanks
1 1/2 cups sliced carrots
1 1/2 cups chopped onion
1 cup celery (include leaves)
2 cloves minced garlic
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
Salt and Pepper to taste
5 cups of chicken broth
- Layer ingredients in crcockpot in order listed above, pouring in broth last
-Cook on low 8-10 hrs or high 4-5 hrs until peas are very soft and ham falls off the bone
-Shred meat and discard of bay leaf
